NVIDIA Hardware Design Interview Practice
High-performance RTL, pipelining, verification, CDC, memory-oriented architecture and throughput reasoning.
Independent preparation resource: HDLForge is not affiliated with NVIDIA. These are practice problems selected for relevant hardware skills; they are not presented as leaked or guaranteed interview questions.
What to practise
High-throughput RTL, vector and matrix datapaths, pipelines, memory movement, CDC and accelerator arithmetic.
Practice set
Work through these problems without looking at solutions first. Explain assumptions, edge cases and verification strategy as if an interviewer were reviewing the design.
Signed INT8 Multiply-Accumulate
Build the basic signed INT8 multiply-accumulate datapath used in DSP and machine-learning accelerators.Four-Lane INT8 Dot Product
Implement a four-lane signed INT8 dot-product datapath similar to a small neural-network vector unit.Eight-Lane Reduction Adder
Create a parallel reduction block that sums eight 16-bit lanes into one output.Systolic Array Processing Element
Build a single processing element for a small systolic matrix-multiply array.Valid-Tagged Pipelined Multiplier
Implement a one-cycle-latency signed multiplier with an aligned valid signal, a common accelerator pipeline building block.2x2 Matrix Multiply Datapath
Implement a small combinational 2x2 signed matrix-multiply datapath.Three-Tap INT8 Convolution
Create the arithmetic core of a small 1D convolution engine.Q1.7 Fixed-Point Multiplier
Multiply two signed Q1.7 fixed-point values and return a truncated Q1.7 result.Simple Dual-Port RAM
Infer a small synchronous-write, asynchronous-read dual-port memory.Ready/Valid Skid Buffer
Build a one-entry skid buffer that preserves data when downstream backpressure arrives.Toggle-Based Pulse Synchronizer
Transfer a one-cycle pulse between unrelated clock domains using a toggle synchronizer.

How to use this track
- Start with the RTL and architecture problems to identify weak fundamentals.
- Repeat the set under time pressure and explain your reasoning aloud.
- For every RTL answer, state reset behavior, edge cases and how you would verify it.
- Build one related project deeply enough to discuss architecture, bugs, verification and trade-offs.
